For this year’s Mid-Year
Meeting, we have scheduled an optional trip to raft at the U.S. National
Whitewater Center (USNWC). The U.S. National Whitewater Center is the
world's largest man-made whitewater river with the only class III-IV
rapids located in a metropolitan area. The center's unique feature is a
multiple-channel, whitewater river for rafting and canoe/kayak
enthusiasts of all levels and abilities.
The cost for the
Whitewater event is $35/person. The trip is not included in the
registration cost of the Mid-Year Meeting but is included as a separate option on the
registration form. Participants will have to provide their own
transportation to the Center which is approximately 20 minutes from the
hotel. Carpool to the Center if possible. Registration for this
event will close Friday, May 16.
The USNWC charges a $5
per car parking fee. The parking ticket also entitles holders to a
$5 discount off any $25 or more purchase in the USNWC Outfitter’s Store
or a FREE cobbler dessert with the purchase of a meal in the Eddy Restaurant and Bar.
The entire experience will last approximately two
hours, including a safety talk, boat orientation and time on the
water. Please arrive at least fifteen minutes prior to your scheduled
trip time to allow for check-in and changing. All rafters will be
provided with a PFD (personal flotation device), helmet and paddle. For
an additional fee, wetsuits, splash jackets, and booties are available
for rent.
